Volunteer in South Africa with Projects Abroad and support local communities through our ongoing development efforts in Cape Town.
We have several different opportunities for people looking to volunteer in Cape Town. You can care for animals, support early childhood development, or kickstart your career in international development.
No matter which project you contribute to, our local staff will be on hand 24/7 to guide and support you throughout your trip.
Cape Town has a lot to offer in your free time. Visit the iconic Table Mountain or go on a weekend trip to do a safari and see the Big Five! We also recommend trying as much of the delicious local food as possible.

Where we are based in South Africa
Cape Town
Our South Africa volunteering projects are based in Cape Town. The city is also known affectionately as the “Mother City” by South Africans. Cape Town has a strong arts and culture scene, historical attractions, and an easy-going lifestyle, which all contribute to its charm.
However, parts of South Africa and Cape Town continue to suffer the effects of inequality and poverty. You'll become part of our ongoing efforts to support and empower local people from these communities.
When you’re not working, there’s plenty to see and do. Go on walks and hikes to experience Cape Town’s natural beauty. Visit museums and theatres to get a feel for the local culture and art-scene. And of course, enjoy a good braai (BBQ) outdoors with some traditional boerewors (sausage).
